WHO WE ARE

ASCEND is a non-profit Peer run organization that offers free respite services and classes to individuals in Stark County, Ohio. As a consumer-operated service, it is operated by a 60% consumer-operated Board of Directors. ASCEND is operated by individuals with lived experience in either mental health or substance use disorders.

All the services offered at ASCEND are free of charge, and the structure is planned with physical and emotional safety in mind.

ASCEND educates, empowers, and motivates the Stark County Community with a staff of peer supporters that have been trained in the Ohio Peer Supporter Integrated Training Model.

Funding

We are mainly funded by Stark MHAR (Mental Health & Addiction Recovery), who believe in the value of our organization and mission to help those attain a level and type of recovery that the peer chooses. If you also believe in our mission and value recovery-oriented, peer-led care, please consider donating to ASCEND. We are a 501(c)3 charitable organization.

ASCENDS’ Vision and Goals are to empower peers through our groups and the peer-run adult respite program. Giving peers the tools they need to be empowered, advocate for themselves, and rejuvenate.

ASCEND offers six Support Groups and Classes for Adults 18 and over every weekday!
