February Spotlight: Alesha Murphy
I met Alesha at an event while she was still at Stark Regional Community Correction (SRCCC) in February 2024, and I mentioned that I was looking for a part-time position and that I do hire felons; Alesha approached me; I received her job application through her case manager. I interviewed her along with the supervisor for that position and her case manager; we conducted a Zoom interview that showcased her impressive determination to move on and change her life.
Alesha began her part-time role while still incarcerated, commuting by bus until her release. Once out, she demonstrated incredible determination, juggling multiple jobs, paying off her fines, and ultimately earning her driver’s license and a car. By August, she had proven her dedication and was offered a full-time Respite Coordinator position, and she recently completed probation early in both counties.
Alesha’s remarkable achievements in less than a year are truly inspiring, and I am thrilled to celebrate Alesha as our February Spotlight. Congratulations, Alesha, for your hard work and commitment to bettering yourself and helping others!
